OpenRouter provides a single API that routes requests to more than 500 models from over 80 providers. It handles provider fallback, shows per-model prices and publishes usage rankings and benchmarks. There is no subscription: users buy credits and pay per token at the listed model rates. A web chat lets users compare models side by side. The API follows the OpenAI request format, so existing clients can switch with few changes.
